Developmental psychopathology

This interdisciplinary group attempts to understand the mechanisms which influence normal and abnormal social and neuro-psychological development.  We are interested in contributing causal factors (e.g. environmental, genetic, biological, social) and research methods (e.g. experiments, epidemiology, imaging, life course analysis).

We have no formally identified sub-themes but Manchester has particular strengths in the areas of autism, language (development and disorders) and antisocial behaviour.  Our focus is on the development mechanisms, and these are likely to be relevant to many other areas of study.  While children and youth form the focus of most of our work, the study of adults and those in old age is also eligible.

The theme leads in Developmental Psychopathology are Gina Conti-Ramsden and Jonathan Hill.
